granular or full table writeback

Writeback to your data warehouse with a connected spreadsheet

Update individual cells in a connected spreadsheet, preview changes instantly, and write back only what changed to Databricks. No exports, no manual scripts, no broken schemas.

Features

Built for precise, governed edits

Row Zero inherits write permissions from the data warehouse.

Cell-level changes

Update a single value or hundreds. Only the rows you changed are sent to the warehouse, so saves are fast even on very large tables.

Track changes

Every edit is flagged in the sheet until it is saved, so your team always knows what's pending.

Live calculations

Edited values flow into downstream formulas, pivots, and charts immediately, so you can model the impact before you commit it.

Preview before you publish

See every update Row Zero will make, checked against the warehouse as it is right now, not as it was when you imported.

No schema changes

Write-back updates existing columns in existing tables. Table structure, permissions, and policies stay intact.

Protected keys

Key columns are locked, so edits always land on the right record.

Type checking

Values that don't match a column's data type are caught at entry, before they can reach the warehouse.

Collaborative by default

Pending changes from every collaborator are saved together and published together, so nothing gets lost between teammates.

Edit in the Spreadsheet. Update the Warehouse

Your edits, in the warehouse, in one click.

Granular and full table writeback turns a connected spreadsheet into a governed editing surface for your warehouse. Row Zero tracks every value you change, shows you exactly which rows will be updated, and writes only those rows back to the existing table. Your table structure, permissions, and policies stay exactly as they are.

How it works

From warehouse table to updated record in four steps

  1. Connect a table. Choose Insert > connected table, then pick your connection, database, schema, table and enable writeback. Row Zero imports the data and sets the table's key columns automatically.
  2. Edit cells directly. Type new values into any non-key column. Changed cells are highlighted, saved with the workbook, and visible to everyone you share it with.
  3. Preview the update. Before anything is written, Row Zero compares your changes to the current state of the warehouse table and shows the exact operations it will run.
  4. Save to the warehouse. Confirm, and Row Zero updates only the changed rows. What you previewed is exactly what gets written.
